How this calculator works
Runway is how many months your cash lasts. Each month the calculator adds your revenue, subtracts your costs, and grows revenue by the rate you set — until cash reaches zero or revenue covers all costs.
Monthly burn is costs minus revenue. If revenue is higher than costs, you are not burning cash and your runway is not limited.
How much runway is enough?
- 18+ months: comfortable. Time to build without panic.
- 12–18 months: workable. Plan your next step — revenue goals or a raise.
- 6–12 months: risky. Start fundraising or cut costs now.
- Under 6 months: danger zone. Act this month.
Why "start fundraising by" matters
Raising money usually takes 3–6 months. If you start when you have 3 months left, you negotiate from a weak position. The calculator shows the month when you still have 6 months of cash — a common point to start.
What the numbers don't tell you
Runway tells you how much time you have, not what to do with it. Should you cut costs, raise, or push for revenue? The button above runs your situation through Ascendra for a verdict, the key risks and a step-by-step plan.
This calculator gives a simplified estimate for planning only. It is not financial advice. Calculations run entirely in your browser; nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere.
